We strongly believe that all students are capable of success in maths. We aim to ensure that all children develop a positive attitude towards mathematics, fluency with mathematical processes, and the ability to confidently apply their skills and understandings to real-life situations.

 

Maths at Menzies Creek is comprised of explicit teaching, authentic problem solving, investigations, games and collaborative learning experiences.

 

Problem solving strategies are explicitly taught within the inquiries, where genuine opportunities are taken to include these in meaningful ways.

 

As with other curriculum areas, regular quick assessments inform our instruction. Teachers collect and collaboratively analyse data regularly and use this to inform our planning, including how we will target individual needs through Tier 2 and 3 intervention.
